Join us at Yoseka Land on Thursday, April 16th from 6pm-8pm for a community gathering to spruce up your journal, start it up, or just spend some time with some fellow journalers. We will provide some spring-themed supplies for everyone to use, but feel free to bring your own to use/share! 🌸✨

Trained under the legendary Richard Binder, J.J. brings both deep expertise and an artist’s touch to every nib he shapes. Since starting his workshop in Brooklyn, he has customized nibs for collectors and major pen brands around the world. And in 2022, he won the first and only fountain pen nib competition in history!
During this event, you’ll get to work with J.J. in person and experience his craftsmanship firsthand on your pens. Whether you’re looking to fine-tune your favorite pen or explore a new writing feel entirely, this is your chance to see what makes a J.J. Lax grind special.

Modern Japanese Calligraphy on Daruma with Shoko Harada
Join Shoko Harada (a Japanese calligraphy artist and designer) in this workshop to customize your very own traditional Japanese "wish doll", or Daruma. You'll learn “Wa-modern calligraphy,” a unique style created by Shoko Harada that is inspired by Japanese writing and blends both Japanese and Western aesthetics in an expressive way. You will choose a word or phrase that is meaningful to you, and Shoko will guide you step by step in creating your design. You'll learn how to use a traditional Japanese brush, practice lettering, and then bring your design to life by writing it on your own Daruma. To complete your wish request, you'll paint in the Daruma’s left eye as a symbol of your wish or intention.

We’re hosting our first-ever KING JIM USA Workshop — and you’re invited!
